Your pet is a loving member of your family and you love to treat them as one of the family. We are always looking at what we feed our kids. Whether it is their regular meals or the snacks we give them – we want only the best. The same needs to hold true for the pets that are part of our loving family, we need to be aware of what we are feeding them.

More and more, we have become aware of the premium dog foods that are available and the positive affect it can have on our pets’ health. What we are less aware of is the availability of premium dog treats. It does not make a lot of sense to give them high quality foods and then give them a doggie treat equivalent of junk food. The idea is to give them a healthy diet all the way around to make sure they are able to have the best quality life possible.

The idea of premium treats is to provide a healthy alternative to the typical treats you find in most stores. Premium treats should be loaded with vitamins, minerals and other health promoting ingredients. What they shouldn’t contain is fillers, binders, artificial ingredients and colors, chemical preservatives etc.

Rawhides are animal hides that are cured, pressed and molded into bone shapes and sold as inexpensive chew treats for dogs. Many manufacturers cure the hides with harsh chemicals; such as, an ash-lye solutions, lime and/or bleach. If the curing process is not enough to help you decide whether or not to feed your dog rawhide, consider the digestive problems of rawhides. Prolonged chewing can cause rawhides to become stringy or break off in small pieces, which can lead to a choking hazards or throat irritations. Rawhides are digested very slowly and can cause intestinal problems, even blockages. There are safe and healthy alternatives to rawhide that can give your dog hours of chewing pleasure. Many people believe that crate training your large dog is cruel in nature, but on the contrary, this method of training is not only effective, but teaches a dog a fundamental lesson, keep your living area clean. Uneducated dog owners do not understand what crate training is all about. Crate training a dog is a wonderful way to give your furry friend a safe place to go when he is tired, when you cannot be with him, and will save your carpet and your house overall. It’s important to remember that crate training a large dog of any age is effective and completely humane.

What Crate Training Entails

Crate training a dog refers to placing your dog in a large crate or kennel when you are not around them to ensure that they go potty in the correct place. A crate can either be a wire type cage that locks or it can be the plastic variety. If you visit your local pet store you will see that there are varying sizes of crates, which are also called kennels. When you are crate training a larger dog you will want to purchase a crate that will be large enough for the dog to stand up and turn around in, even when they are full grown.

If you are crate training a puppy you may have to buy a large crate now, but it makes more sense to buy a crate that will serve the purpose for the long haul. The prices of crates really vary depending on the quality and the material used in creating the crate.

Smaller crates are obviously less costly but it is important that you buy a crate large enough for your dog after its fully grown. A crate will lock securely so that when you are away from home your dog will have a safehaven to run back to. You can create your own crate if you are inclined to do so, but you will want to be sure that there are no sharp edges and that your dog cannot get his or her head wedged in any gaps or holes. Buy and Sell text links

Hermit crabs are one of the most extraordinary pets because of their ability to make attention-grabbing, easy care friends. They have very distinctive characteristics; have vigorous and inquisitive nature, and their unique personality with low maintenance charges make them appealing to us as good pets as long as we provide them proper environment and food.

In fact, biologically, they do not show the typical characteristics of “true crabs.” They are characterized by a soft abdomen which is protected by shell of an empty snail, where they do live unlike true crabs. So, as they grow, owners of such pets must offer increasingly larger sized shells, corresponding to their growth.

Basically, Hermit Crabs are omnivores, which mean they feed on both vegetation and animal material. There are two types of Hermit Crabs found, marine and land hermit crabs. Usually, Land Hermit Crabs are considered as good pets.

Choosing the Pet
Coenobita clypeatus and Coenobita compressus are the two main species found in United States, while Coenobita perlatus and Coenobita variabilis are the other two found in other parts of world besides the previous two. Although, Land Hermit Crabs are relatively easier to find, you have to be careful while choosing your pet.

Hermit Crab displays three pairs of legs and you have to make sure that all pairs are present. You should also check the shell, whether it is intact or not. The potential pet should not be dull as it is the indication of its unhealthy status. It should be free of parasites. If you are adding one into your previously maintained stock then take care that the new arrival is having the matching size.

Housing Hermit Crabs

The habitat of Land Hermit Crabs is warm tropical climate; hence they require a warm, humid environment in the tank to survive. They do not require huge homes but maintenance of suitable temperature and humidity is absolutely important for their survival. Read the rest of this entry »

Pets are similar to humans in what they need to look and feel great. In order to keep your pet in good shape you need to give them daily exercise, this can be as simple as a daily walk ( which is good for both of you ) or even participating in dog training courses or hiring a dog walker if you are too busy.

Give your dog a lot of love

The next step is to give them lots of love, this is probably the easiest step because dogs are so easy to fall in love with and spend time with; after all, they are your best friend. Loving your dog is simple and only requires you to praise them, pet them and give them belly rubs from time to time.

The importance of healthy dog food

Healthy dog food is important be because low quality food can negatively impact your dogs health. Foods that have fillers may fill the belly of your pet, but they will not be able to digest the ingredients and benefit from the nutrients. Another downfall of low quality or cheap dog food is that they will use second grade food for their ingredients. This means that even the food that your pet can digest will not have a high vitamin count, Which requires your dog to eat more food.
